This setup will cover most bottom fishing and lures but you will want to increase your line to 30-50lb if you are targeting Striped Bass/Bluefish. The advantage of the travel rod is it is easier to take on the subway. This setup is also light enough to have fun with all the other bottom fish like Porgy, Tautog and Sea Bass.

This setup is fairly light weight but you can catch big fish with it. If you are targeting Striped Bass and Bluefish around rocks and structure I would increase your leader to 40-50lb. 

Sunglasses

Polarized sunglasses will help you see deeper and past the glare on top of the water. They will reduce eye fatigue and help you fish longer. The Hobie glasses float which is really helpful if you are going kayak fishing or on a boat. 

Headlamp

Petzl Actik Core Rechargeable Headlamp - Link

Petzl make great lightweight headlamps for climbing but they work for jetty fishing at night and walking the beach. They are very bright and have a red light setting for stealth night fishing.

Sun Protection

Neutrogena Beach Defense Sunscreen Stick - Link

Sun protection is important but you don't want to get it on your hands. Whether or not the fish can smell it, it might lower your confidence. I like these sticks because you can apply it without touching sunscreen. 

Bass Dash UPF 50+ Neck Gaiter - Link

The neck gaiter is really helpful for the sun reflection on the water. Especially if its a calm day and full sun. The gaiter keeps your neck and ears sun protected. 

Columbia PFG Terminal Tackle Sun Shirt & Hood - Link

These shirts work excellent for sun protection and keeping cool in the summer. They are moisture wicking and UPF 50. You can wear them year round under warmer layers too.

Winter Clothing

32 Degrees Lightweight Base Layer Leggings - Link

I found these at model's and have used them for a bunch of years, you can layer them too. Really makes a difference keeping your legs warm.

These are comfy year round but will keep your feet warm in the Winter. They aren't took thick so you can layer them if you get cold feet.

Great option for re-use and chargeable. 

Smartwool Merino Sport Beanie - Link

These are thinner but a tighter fit and cover your ears well. Used like a base layer but surprisingly warm, you can layer another hat on top of these if it gets colder out. 

Spring Clothing

You can use these year round but are great when the weather is warming up. For Jetty's, boats, piers, these are great for throwing over your clothes and keeping them clean/dry. Very versatile bibs. 

Summer Clothing

Great multi use shorts for the Summer. You can swim with them, really lightweight and they dry quick. Pretty affordable and often on sale 

Fall Clothing

These are great for the transitional season and when the wind starts in October. Super warm, durable and will last a long time. Very stylish too 

Rain Gear

These jackets are very durable and keep you dry. Works as a great shell for windy days too. Can be worn year round.

Great year round, works for rain and snow. Little lighter weight material but there is room for layers in the Winter. Easy to clean and pull over shoes.

These are great if you want to use your same shoes and put cleats over top. The downside to these are less ankle support. But for quick trips and affordability, these are great.

These will give you the most comfort and stability when fishing rocks. The carbide spikes are excellent for most rock situations however these also work great for wading if you change the soles out. It is nice to be able to switch to regular, felt and carbide spikes for different situations. 

Dry Suit

You need a dry suit for kayak fishing in cold water. The Kokatat one has an easy to open zipper for going to the bathroom and is comfortable yet still rugged. 

Wet Suit

Cressi Bahia Flex 2.5mm Front Zip Wet Suit - Link

Front zip suits are great for using the bathroom more easily. The 2.5mm is great for Late Spring and Fall when the water hits 60F. Too cold to swim, but too hot for a dry suit.

These are a great value and coast guard approved. Great for kayaking or boats, they've got plenty of pocket storage and comfortable.
